The
Community Clearinghouse connects individuals and families in need of
basic living necessities with donated clothing, furniture, appliances,
and other household items, free of cost.
As Oahu's central collection and distribution center for donated goods, the Community
Clearing House provides more than thousands of low-income individuals and families
with over several million dollars in goods every year.
As an integral part of its activities, the Community Clearinghouse conducts island-wide
collection drives and coordinates with the Star-Bulletin Good Neighbor Fund and
the Honolulu Advertiser Christmas Fund.
The donated items accepted by the Community Clearinghouse are passed on to nearly
70 local social service agencies and organizations that are registered with the
Clearinghouse. These agencies then decide who can benefit most from the items.
Opportunities also exist for participation in our Adopt-A-Family project, in
which businesses, employee groups, social clubs, families and individuals can
choose a specific family to help. Adopters are provided with details of family
need, tragedy or circumstances.
Donations of clothing, household items and other gifts can be dropped off at
the Community Clearinghouse, 2100 North Nimitz Highway.
