Supporting Our Community After the Kona Low Storms: How You Can Help

Recent Kona low storms brought heavy rain, flooding, and disruption across Oahu, leaving many individuals and families facing housing instability and unexpected loss. Helping Hands Hawai‘i is working with partners on the ground to support recovery efforts and provide essential resources to those impacted.

Right now, the focus is on helping families stabilize with basic, everyday necessities as cleanup continues.

What’s Needed Most

We are currently accepting donations of essential household and personal care items, including:

  • Hygiene items and feminine products
  • Diapers and pull-ups (all sizes) and wipes
  • Phone chargers and portable battery banks
  • Laundry detergent and dish soap
  • Shoes and boots
  • Towels and bedding (including blankets)
  • Cookware, dishware, and utensils
  • Gift cards for flexible support

At this time, larger furniture items are not needed, as many affected areas are still in the cleanup phase following the storm.

Partner With Us as a Collection Site

Community businesses and organizations can play a direct role in Kona low recovery efforts by serving as a donation collection site. By hosting a drive, you can help gather essential items and make it easier for your employees, customers, or community members to contribute.

Helping Hands Hawai‘i can provide guidance on priority items, coordination support, and help ensure donations are directed to families in need.

If your organization is interested in partnering as a collection site, please reach out to our team to get started.
