Ready to Learn 2026 Supports Local Students
Helping Hands Hawai‘i’s Ready to Learn initiative is back to support local students with the school supplies they need for the year ahead.
This year, the program aims to distribute 3,000 backpacks filled with essential supplies to students entering kindergarten through 12th grade.
Each backpack includes a school supply kit designed to support classroom learning while helping reduce back-to-school costs for families.
School supplies kits are valued at $50 each and include backpacks, pens, binders, colored pencils, composition books, crayons, dry-erase markers, erasers, filler paper, glue, glue sticks, highlighters, markers, pencils, pencil pouch/box, pencil sharpener, permanent markers, portfolios, and spiral notebooks.
How the Program Works
Families may apply now through May 31, 2026, or until all backpacks have been distributed. Supplies are limited and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
To qualify, students must be entering grades K–12 for the upcoming school year.
Supporting Local Students
Ready to Learn is made possible through community support. Donations for the 2026 program will be collected from June 1 through July 31, with a fundraising goal of $140,000.
These contributions help ensure that students across Hawai‘i have access to the supplies they need at the start of the school year.
